Work made in shadow—paintings covered out of fear, photographs taken with cameras older than living memory, images preserved through processes that obscure as much as they reveal. Each piece holds something hidden underneath. Some of the underpaintings are visible through the seams. Some are gone entirely. The covering is the work.
